During his stay, Wen held separate meetings with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and President Ram Baran Yadav, apart from a joint meeting with the top leaders of major parties during the luncheon. He left for the airport directly from Shital Niwas after meeting President Yadav.
PM Bhattarai and senior cabinet members saw him off at the airport. The Chinese delegation that landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:50 am in a chartered plane had all of its meetings with the Nepali delegation in Singha Durbar.
Eight different agreements were signed between Nepal and China after the meetings with Nepali delegation led by PM Bhattarai.
Following the meetings, PM Bhattarai hosted a luncheon at the State Hall in Singha Durbar in which top leaders of major parties including Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala were present. Only senior ministers were invited to the luncheon with the Chinese premier.
Security was massively beefed up in the capital during the Chinese leader's visit. Security personnel were deployed to the streets in large numbers.
Both the governments did not make any formal announcement regarding Wen's visit. With security being the main concern, even the senior Foreign Ministry officials refused to confirm the Chinese PM's visit on Friday.
